Indian sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik prepares an image of the Hindu goddess Durga at Puri Beach, 70kms east of Bhubaneswar, 27 September 2006. The four-day long Durga Puja festival takes place from 28 September to 2 October, and involves the immersion of idols in the River Ganges. Durga symbolizes power and the triumph of good over evil in Hindu mythology.
